An amazing piece of Vatican history in the form of an 1863 handwritten letter from Pope Leo XIII who at the time was Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci, Archbishop-Bishop of Perugia! This stunning document is entirely penned in period ink on hand laid paper in the hand of Pecci himself and signed in the bottom right hand corner! Document penned in Latin. Adjacent to the document is an antique period Chromolithograph print of Pecci as Pope Leo XIII which was originally painted by artist Frank Von Lenbach. Document in Excellent condition. Clean, crisp, bright and vibrant with minimal signs of use if any. Chromolithograph print adjacent to letter is in Acceptable condition with moderate wear and wrinkling. A very early striking of this iconic image from Lenbach however. Both protected behind glass and professionally matted and framed in a sleek contemporary dark wood tone frame. Document and Litho each measure approximately 8 x 10 1/4. Frame measures 20 3/4 x 14 1/2. Please enjoy the photos for further item details and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
